Colour coated rubber mulch is a durable and environmentally friendly surface containing 90% recycled tyre rubber which gives the look and feel of wood bark chippings. Rubber mulch can be used as a loose-fill surface but is preferably mixed with resin to create a bonded system. Significant costs can be saved when comparing this surfacing system with a Wetpour as this system does not require an engineered sub-base.
This product is not suitable to be used as a wearing course in areas where seating, crawling or any other applications where regular bodily contact is likely. A natural SBR economy black mulch provides a low-cost material for pathways and areas where a coated material is not required.

Please note: All critical fall heights and related thickness are suggested only. For commercial areas, all playground surfacing should comply with EN1176.
Although the pigments and coating themselves are considered to have excellent colour stability it should be noted that due to the relatively thin coating and the high percentage of carbon black and other ingredients in the base tyre rubber, the colour coated rubber will darken over time due to physical wear and weathering.
For more information please refer to our technical bulletin on the use of black rubbers. Colour coated products are not intended to be a direct replacement for through coloured virgin granules, but to be a lower cost environmental alternative and as such are manufactured in a range of darker, more naturally sympathetic colours.
